On movie screens and radio stations, Julie Andrews was drawing record crowds to "The Sound of Music" while Freddie and the Dreamers held the number one spot on the charts with "I'm Telling You Now." The Boston Celtics claimed the NBA championship by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers, the same spring that Gordon Moore published his observation that computing power doubles roughly every two years — a principle that would come to be known as Moore's Law.
