On television, "Bonanza" remained the top-rated show in the country, while The Beatles held the number one spot on the charts with "We Can Work It Out." The Green Bay Packers claimed the NFL championship that season, and on February 3, the Soviet unmanned spacecraft Luna 9 made the first controlled rocket-assisted landing on the Moon, a landmark moment in the space race.
