Gas cost $0.33 a gallon in the spring of 1967, and the Dow Jones stood at 906 — the U.S. Senate voted 88-0 to approve a landmark treaty banning the militarization of outer space, sending the Outer Space Treaty to President Johnson for his signature. On screens and turntables, audiences were watching "Mission: Impossible" take home the Emmy for best drama while father-daughter duo Frank and Nancy Sinatra held the #1 spot on the charts with "Somethin' Stupid." The Philadelphia 76ers claimed the NBA championship by defeating the San Francisco Warriors, the same spring that NASA launched Lunar Orbiter 4 to photograph the far side of the Moon in preparation for a future crewed landing.
