At the movies, "Jaws" was drawing record crowds and redefining what a summer blockbuster could be, while on the radio, "Love Will Keep Us Together" by The Captain & Tennille held the top spot for weeks. On July 17, American and Soviet spacecraft met in orbit when an Apollo capsule and a Soyuz 19 module successfully docked together, the first joint crewed mission between the two nations and a rare moment of cooperation at the height of the Cold War.
