In sports, the Seattle SuperSonics defeated the Washington Bullets to claim the NBA championship, and at Cape Canaveral, the Space Shuttle Columbia was delivered to Kennedy Space Center, marking a concrete step toward the first launch of America's new reusable spacecraft.
