On television, audiences were tuning into "Dallas" and the breakout first season of "The Cosby Show," while Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called To Say I Love You" sat at the top of the charts. The Detroit Tigers wrapped up the World Series against the San Diego Padres that October, the same month Canadian astronaut Marc Garneau became the first Canadian in space aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger.
