A Big Mac cost $2.19 that summer of 1992, and the Dow Jones sat at 3,301 — the Dow Jones sat at 3,301 — a figure that reflected a country still finding its footing after a mild recession, with Israel proposing a plan to grant Arabs self-rule in occupied territories and the Earth Summit in Rio drawing international attention to environmental policy debates. At the multiplex, "A League of Their Own" was drawing crowds, while Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" held the number one spot on the charts through much of the season.
