On television, "ER" continued to dominate Thursday nights as one of the most-watched dramas on the air, while John Grisham's "The Partner" sat at the top of the New York Times fiction bestseller list. The Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan, claimed another NBA championship that year, and in February, astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery completed a successful servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope, restoring and upgrading the orbiting observatory in a series of spacewalks.
