On television, "Seinfeld" was the country's most-watched show in its final season, and Lauryn Hill's album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" was dominating radio and reshaping what pop and R&B could sound like. The New York Yankees capped a 114-win regular season by sweeping the San Diego Padres in the World Series, and on November 17, Voyager 1 surpassed Pioneer 10 to become the most distant man-made object ever from Earth, having traveled more than 69 astronomical units from the Sun since its 1977 launch.
