On television, "The Sopranos" was the Emmy-winning drama keeping audiences gripped, while Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" held the top spot on the charts for weeks running. The St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series over the Detroit Tigers in five games, and that same season Nintendo released the Wii, a home gaming console that introduced motion-control technology to mainstream consumers and permanently changed how people interacted with video games.
