That fall of 2011, gas ran $3.53 a gallon and Obama was in the White House — the European debt crisis was spreading uncertainty across global markets. On the pop charts, Adele's "Someone Like You" dominated radio, while "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett sat at the top of the fiction bestseller lists. The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers to win the World Series that October, the same fall that Mojang Studios officially released "Minecraft," a game that would go on to become the best-selling video game of all time.
