On screens and in earbuds, "The Hunger Games" dominated the box office while fun.'s "We Are Young" featuring Janelle Monae held the number one spot on the charts. The Miami Heat claimed the NBA championship that year by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder, the same spring that a pastel version of "The Scream" by Edvard Munch sold at a New York City auction for $120 million, setting a new world record for an auctioned work of art.
