On movie screens, "The Secret Life of Pets" was drawing families to theaters, while on the page, Paula Hawkins's "The Girl on the Train" held the top spot on the fiction bestseller list. That same summer, the United States sent athletes to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the Summer Olympic Games — the first Olympics ever held in South America — where Team USA finished with 46 gold, 37 silver, and 38 bronze medals, for a total of 121.
