The Los Angeles Lakers claimed the NBA championship that fall by defeating the Miami Heat, the same season that SpaceX launched its first crewed Dragon 2 spacecraft from Cape Canaveral — the first crewed launch from American soil since the Space Shuttle program ended in 2011.
